Radio broadcasting

LVRTC provides FM radio broadcasting services to commercial radio operators registered in Latvia and ensures the distribution of radio programmes produced by the Latvian Public Media.

LVRTC operates FM radio broadcasting infrastructure and delivers FM broadcasting services covering 99% of the territory of Latvia.

LVRTC provides the following radio transmission services to commercial radio broadcasters:

  • Design of radio broadcasting systems, field measurements, and coverage maps in accordance with the technical parameters specified in broadcasting licences.
  • Installation of FM broadcasting equipment for radio stations on LVRTC towers.
  • Equipment installation and connection to the power grid.
  • Connection of equipment to data transmission services.
  • Connection of equipment to LVRTC radio broadcasting antenna systems.
  • Transmission of radio signals on FM frequencies using either LVRTC broadcasting equipment or radio station broadcasting equipment.
  • Technical maintenance of FM broadcasting equipment and troubleshooting of faults.

LVRTC provides radio broadcasting services through its infrastructure of towers and masts, offering the widest possible signal coverage across Latvia.

Latvia’s national radio frequency policy and broadcasting licences are regulated by:

  • Radio Permits | Electronic Communications – the authority responsible for radio frequency spectrum management and the issuance of radio permits.
  • Programmes | National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP) – the authority responsible for granting broadcasting rights and regulating electronic media programme services in Latvia.

Service delivery is continuously monitored and supervised 24/7

FM signal transmission is provided through LVRTC's FM antenna systems from the LVRTC Riga Radio and Television Station (tower) and from other transmitting stations (towers and masts) across Latvia

LVRTC's nationwide network of towers and masts enables efficient coverage and access to the largest possible radio audience

LVRTC ensures immediate incident response and fault remediation in accordance with the Service Level Agreement (SLA)

Broadcasting systems are supported by LVRTC data transmission connectivity and power supply solutions

LVRTC employs only highly qualified radio communications specialists for system design, planning, installation, assembly, operation, and maintenance

LVRTC utilizes modern FM transmitters and antenna systems to ensure efficient use of radio frequency resources and optimal broadcasting performance

LVRTC's FM broadcasting infrastructure and services are secure and designed to remain available as a reliable source of information during emergency situations

Programme distribution is delivered using LVRTC FM transmitters (including redundancy solutions, regular maintenance, and spare parts support) as well as customer-owned FM transmitters (without redundancy and regular maintenance services)

Broadcasting area maps are prepared on the basis of measurements made by the experts of the Latvian State Radio and Television Center, but only for transmitters located at the center facilities. As a result, these maps shall not be considered an accurate representation of coverage areas of specific programs.
